"Meet it is I set it down,
That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain..."
To explain, in a fashion; the quote itself is of course-as noted- from Hamlet. The title of the blog "borrowed" from Shakespeare, and again from Rex Stout as it is the title of one of my favorite books. It just seemed very fitting at the moment.
If life were a book, just about everyone would like to assume they would hold the role of the protagonist. To make the plot move, however, there needs to be an antagonist. All too often in real life, from scene to scene, one moves from one role to the other. Perhaps not even noting their exchange. Like Hamlet, I would like to set it down that one may smile, and smile, and be a villain...

Some more Shakespeare quotes for you:
"Such an act
That blurs the garce and blush of modesty,
Calls virtue hypocrite, takes off the rose
From the fair forehead of an innocent love
And sets a blister there, makes marriage vows
As false as dicers' oaths" Hamlet(Act III Sc IV)
"Jealous souls will not be answer;d so;
They are not ever jealous for the cause
But jealous for they're jealous" Othello (Act III Sc IV)
"The dev'l hath power
T' assume a pleasing shape." Hamlet (Act II Sc ii)
"The devil can cite Scriputre for his purpose." The Merchant of Venice (Act I sc iii)
Just thought you might enjoy them. Welcome to Blogger..;)
